Looking for Orcas Island beachfront, spectacular views, 4+ bedrooms, 3+ baths, and a location within walking distance of town? Not many vacation homes meet this criteria, but North Shore Reef offers all these attributes and more. This spacious and attractive home is simply the perfect choice for family vacations and couples traveling together.
The property is conveniently located only one mile north of Eastsound Village, offering an easy walk to shops and restaurants via a public pathway. When you open the front door, a startling vista of sky, sea, and mountains will greet you through the large picture windows on the waterside of the home. Straight ahead, there is a view of Sucia Island and, in the distance, the snow-capped peaks of the Canadian Cascade range can be seen rising above neighboring islands. When the tide is high you may see whales and dolphins as they pass by in the deep water channel, and when the tide is low, the sandy offshore reef emerges from the sea to attract a variety of marine life, including birds, eagles, and otters.
The 3200 square foot residence is designed for casual and comfortable living. The entry, living room, and dining room are oriented toward the waterfront as is the terrace, where you will lounge, BBQ , dine alfresco, and bask in glorious sunsets. A partially fenced lawn with fire pit is on the western side of the property. From the bluff, a stairway connects to the pebble beach where the elements of nature can be appreciated at the shoreline.
Indoors, there is plenty of space for the entire group to cook, dine, and enjoy their time together. Meal preparation takes place in a large, well-stocked kitchen that features contemporary appliances, a work island, and a breakfast nook. The dining room offers seating around an expandable table and you will find a bedroom with a king bed just down the hall on the main level. Adjacent to this master bedroom is a bathroom with shower as well as an office/den equipped with a convertible sofa that is suitable for a child or extra guest. For flexibility, there is a door that enables you to enclose these three rooms into a private suite. A laundry room with extra toilet and sink are also located just off the kitchen on the main level.
Upstairs, overlooking the living room, is a loft with a sectional sofa and TV for watching television or movies. The loft separates two upper bedroom wings. One wing contains a bathroom with tub/shower and bedroom large enough to contain both a queen sized bed and twin/trundle. The additional two bedrooms are on the opposite side of the loft and share a third bathroom with tub/shower. The larger bedroom also contains both a queen sized bed plus a twin/trundle; the smaller offers a queen size bed.
Please note that when more than 10 guests are accepted, an additional fee of $50 per guest per night will apply. We’re sorry that the fireplace is not available for guest use.

Response from Northwest Vacations:
Thank you for this wonderful review we are glad we were able to get that hot water issue fixed quickly and we look forward to your next visit and stay!
We've already booked next year. What else can we say?
This was our second stay at this property. The location of the house on the water and views were special. The Interior is looking somewhat worn. Time for new carpets and some upholstery changes.
We have been spending our family vacation at this house for several years. Its perfect accommodation for my family and grandkids. Grandkids love finding treasures at the beach and adults love the view and serene environment. We love it!
We spent 3 wonderful nights in this beautiful home with the most gorgeous view from the main room. The home is a great size for my family of 5, plus my mom and sister. It had a ton of extra space and the apple tree was an added bonus. we loved catching a few deer munching away on the fruit.
Our family thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this exceptional property. From the moment we walked in and saw the view and amenities we felt delighted . Were hoping to be able to lodge here again in the future . Thanks for the opportunity.
Orcas Island is a spectacular destination with its natural beauty and quaint village. We have stayed in Olga the past few years and decided to try another location closer to Eastsound.
What we gained from convenience to town we sacrificed some privacy with sounds of neighbors and people out on the beach in front of the house.
The positives of this rental are:
The view from the back deck is spectacular.
The kitchen is well equipped
The floor plan is good for a big group
The negatives
There is a mildew odor throughout every room, we needed to keep the windows open
The furnishings are worn
Best location and wonderful house for a group of 12 friends having an island thanksgiving!
This was the second of our houses. We loved the spaciousness and the ability for the eleven of us to eat our dinners together. The deck was perfect for sitting and reminiscing in the evening before dinner. The people who stayed in this house lived it. Access to this house is great. Its equipped to accommodate a large group and it dies so easily. The view is perfect. We got a total feel for the Island. Great vacation. Thanks to Sarah fro Isla Vida Group for helping us organize fun excursions for each day. Loved it
Great time!
As always the family enjoyed their stay.

A wonderful destination for a family escape
This is a lovely home on a beautiful piece of property. We had several generation fo family members and it was comfortable for all. It is unfortunate that one cannot walk on the beach, even at low tide, due to the private beach laws. Home needed a little TLC, but overall very comforable.
My family of 4 spent 5 days here with another family of 4 and it was absolutely perfect for our needs. The location is fantastic, close to Eastsound and right on the water. We had deer come through the yard, watched otters playing while we ate dinner and saw bald eagles. The house has everything we needed and the layout of rooms was perfect. I highly recommend this place!
Lovely home for gathering family on the waterfront. Well equipped kitchen (even a pastry cutter!), large tables for dining (inside and out), beautiful views and access to the water for kayaking.
Internet was not working for our first 3 days, but on Monday I called the agency and they sent someone to get it back up again. Took hours on the phone with the provider, but after that we did not have any more problems.
One improvement would be more comfortable patio furniture. The only poor feature of the property.

This house is well maintained and extremely well equipped. It worked beautifully for out large family group. We were able to prepare and share many meals as a group. The unobstructed views of the sound and wildlife were enjoyed from the back yard and through the wall of windows in the common areas of the house. Stairs down to the water allied us to explore at low tide. Town was s short bike ride away. We would definitely rent this house again.
Great experience.
The den door lockjed us out when we got there.
the towel kept dropping in one of the upstairs bathrooms.
This house has it all - a beautiful location right on the water, room for lots of people to hang out and sleep, tons of games and other activities. Its walking distance to Eastsound, and close to all other parts of the island. The team was helpful when we needed them (trash pickup, general questions, etc). All in all, a great experience. My family is already asking when we can go back!
We loved this house and had a great vacation. The house was unusually clean (no sticky cabinets or drawers in the kitchen) and outstandingly well supplied. We had plenty of room for the nine of us (3 generations) and that included enough seating in the dining room (which is bizarrely frequently not the case in a vacation rental). The view from the deck and inside the house is 180 degrees, so we early risers were able to enjoy both sunrises and sunsets, which were outstanding. We walked or drove to town, drove to hiking and boating in Moran State Park and Turtleback Mountain, attended a concert at the Chamber Music Festival, went whale watching, saw eagles and had an excellent vacation all around. The property was as described and as pictured and the manager was helpful. The house is comfortable, clean, well laid out, conveniently located and has an amazing view. We hope to return.
This property in in a beautiful location on the north shore of Orcas Island. The views are stunning, the rooms are very large, our extended family ranging form 8 months to 67 years all loved our stay ansd were able to spread out comfortably. There is a big TV/lounge room on the second floor which allowed for different activities to not conflict. My favorite feature was a big double-ended, open sided couch in front of the big north facing window where one could sit side-by-side or facing to read or chat and enjoy the view of the water and islands. A small complaint I had was handled very fairly and amicably by the rental agency. The restaurant Roses in towns is a wonderful and delicious spot that accommodated the 8 of us (2 babies) without fuss. Loved this place!!
Dear Guest, Thank you for choosing to visit the Islands and for staying with us at North Shore Reef. We appreciate your kind comments here as well as the feedback you provided. We do hope you will return to visit us again soon, Fall is here and the Islands are more magical than ever! Best Regards, General Manager
AMAZING view! Quiet neighborhood located within walking distance to Eastsound activity.
IT was a fine spot for a wonderful family vacation.
A perfect location for a family gathering. Walking distance to kayaking and whale watching adventures. A pretty easy 1.5 mile walk to "downtown" Eastsound for dining and shopping. It was more pricy that what we typically pay for our family gathering at various west coast locations but could not beat the view, there was plenty of room to spread out and the house was well equipped including a yummy welcoming home-made quick bread.
We had a wonderful family vacation for the third year in a row at this wonderful home.

I had a good sense of Orcas because my daughter and son in law visit often. They directed me to renting on the north part of the island because of the sunsets. The location could not have been better. Having large living spaces was a highlight including the big deck, grassy spaces for the grandkids and proximity to the water. being able to bike or walk to Eastsound was a plus.
Only complaints were lack of recycle and garbage containers. I had to call several times and when an extra can was left there was already two bags of garbage in it. Would be nice to have had a pick up when renting for a week.
Also there only two kitchen towels. There were several plumbing issues (could not use one tub), dripping sinks. Becky, a local caretaker was able to help us when we called.
I would highly recommend this spot and hope to rent it again.
