This spectacular waterfront home features panoramic views of northwestern skies that become a brilliant spectacle of gold, orange, and purple at days’ end. This glorious panorama is yours to behold when you stay at Sunsets over the Salish Sea. From the vantage point of the seaside hot tub, dining terrace, garden and wrap around windows, sundown can be a very special event indeed!

And this this beautiful home has much more to offer than the lovely water view. As you enter the property through a gated drive and lushly landscaped grounds, the substance becomes apparent. Sunsets was designed by a premier local architect, Lundgren, and the quality of construction is superb. Completely furnished top to toe with new high end products, this property will satisfy the most discriminating guests.

The interiors are customized with quality woodwork and cabinetry, a dramatic stone fireplace that stretches across the wall of the great room, and signature window seats tucked into cozy bedroom nooks. On the main level, the great room features gorgeous hardwood floors, gleaming wood ceilings, and an open kitchen with granite counters, bar seating, and stainless steel appliances. A small den and library with a large screen smart TV separates the living room from the master bedroom. For guest audiophiles, a sound system with a wonderful set of speakers and a variety of music options is also available.

The master bedroom features a desk, second rock fireplace, king size bed, and window seat that might serve as a sleeping space for a child. The en-suite bath is accented with slate tile and offers a large dressing area, dual vanities, private facilities, and walk-in, two head, shower. On the opposite side of the main level, the hall leads to a washer/dryer, a guest bathroom with stall shower, and to a bedroom set up with TV and deluxe sleeper sofa with a pop-up section that creates a wonderfully comfortable full-size queen bed This room also offers a separate exterior entry from the courtyard.

Two additional guest rooms are upstairs, each with their own en-suite bathroom with tub/shower. One of the rooms offers a king size bed, the second bedroom has a trundle bed with pull out twin bed. Both of these rooms also feature twin-bed size window seats for extra sleeping versatility.

Outdoors on the waterside, you’ll find the propane BBQ, the hot tub, a flagstone terrace, a fire pit, and a stepdown deck area with lounge chairs and a dining table. The home is also enviably located within an easy bike ride or walk of Eastsound Village, shops and restaurants.

Beautiful, Well Appointed Home

"This home has everything you could possibly need. We stayed for Thanksgiving with our adult children and their SOs (6 adults) and didn't find anything lacking for a full Thanksgiving spread. We all had plenty of space and for those of us who had to work a bit over the holiday, the wi-fi was good. There was a little issue with a sink drain clog in one of the bathrooms but communication was awesome and maintenance arrived within the hour to fix!

Our family had a great week at this custom built luxury waterfront home on the stunning north shore of Orcas Island. Highly recommend to any family looking for first class accommodations overlooking gorgeous marine scenery yet only minutes from the charming village of Eastsound.

Nice, quiet getaway!

Had a lovely stay at this home on Orcas Island--beautiful views and plenty of room for our family of 8. We could tell from the smell as soon as we walked in that the place had been thoroughly disinfected. The only complaints about the place that we heard from our group were that the window coverings could have been room darkening (the sun blasted through early in the morning in some of the rooms) and some kid-friendly kitchen ware would be nice, like smaller plastic cups and plastic plates, etc. It would also help if you included some instructions for the TV, what with all the different remotes, etc. We appreciated the environmentally-friendly bath products and laundry detergent. The hot tub was nice, although it was pretty dirty when we arrived, and we had to have someone come and reset the circuit breaker when it was tripped during our stay. The management quickly responded to our complaint. Apparently, the hot tub is only cleaned on a certain day of the week, and we arrived in the middle of that cycle, so, once it was cleaned, it was great. The view from the house was fantastic, and the house was very secluded and quiet. The kids enjoyed roasting marshmallows at the fire pit. Overall, a great place for a family getaway!

Family Vacation in the San Juan Islands

The house we chose couldnt have been more perfect!! It was beautiful. The landscaping was natural and beautiful. She had bird feeders and seed there for me to fill with my grandson. We were right on the water with beautiful sunsets from the deck. We enjoyed the outside fire pit with smores. They had everything we needed! If we needed anything Northwest Escapes was there to help. We had 8 adults and 3 children staying and the house was perfect in size. The house was clean when we arrived and had things to help us until we could make it to the grocery store. It also had a book with suggestions for places to eat and things to see. It was a perfect family vacation! We will definitely return.

Fabulous Vacation in the San Juan Islands!

This was our second year staying at Sunsets over the Salish Sea. The second time was even better than the first. We couldn't get enough of the gorgeous sunsets on the lovely deck and porch! Our children loved making s'mores in the outdoor fire pit while we watched a bald eagle land in the tree overhead. What an experience!

Beautiful and great house–but NO water access

We loved the house, which was comfortable and well-appointed, but it's a little misleading--we really thought we had rented a home with water access. It is hard to find water access nearby--the beach down the street is very small.

A Southerners stamp of approval!

While everything was fabulous inside of the home, we enjoyed the outside property the most with family meals on the patio, roasting smores by the fire, garden walks, hot tubbing, and grilling without having to worry about bugs in the scorching Southern heat like what we deal with back home! The expansive views were breathtaking and the weather was just incredible. The location of this house was so convenient for the days we had fishing charters with Outer Island Expeditions. We hiked the falls in Moran State Park and enjoyed strolling around town when we werent on the water, and we felt like the house overall was such a great central location to all of the activities we did. Things inside of the home I felt were well stocked with lots of unique personal touches throughout, which added charm and character. The ONLY suggestion I would have is better accommodating window shades for the bedrooms. With the sunsets beginning around 9:30-10pm, but wasnt dark until about 11pm, then sunrises starting around 5am...on top of the 2 hour time change we had, it made the nights VERY, very short. The extreme brightness made sleeping pretty lack and uncomfortable, which was pretty rough for us, especially our little boy, by the end of our trip. Despite that, we did make a lifetime of memories, which made up for not getting the relaxing sleep we had hoped to get as well. We are already planning our next trip and would like to return to this lovely home. A modification to the bedroom window blinds would make everything absolutely perfect and ideal, especially for families with small children.

Sunset over the Salish Sea

This house is majestic inside and out and we wish we were still there ! Sunrises and sunsets every day, fireplace and outdoor fire pit every evening
The hot tub has the best view ever , eagles flying overhead on the deck .
We had stellar dinners with local oysters and seafood and the music system was perfect. We loved being back on Orcas Island with our best friends and would recommend this home and location to everyone ! Thank you for having us in your magical spot.

Great house, property and location....fabulous views out of alll windows, nice walk to Eastsound, great kitchen, decks and space.
ONLY complaint is a couple of mattresses could be improved on...but our time there was so filled, that we all collapsed once we hit the beds.

Super Celebration!

We rented this home for a family reunion to celebrate my wife's birthday. The home was perfect! The location is outstanding. The home was very clean, well cared for, fully equipped and met all our expectations. We had a catered birthday dinner for 10 on the deck looking out over the Salish. The kitchen worked well for the catering crew. It was a perfect evening.

We asked for views and got so much more. A beautiful home with beautiful gardens. This is a great place a group of friends or families with adult children as the bedrooms have private bathrooms. The home is very well maintained and pretty close to town. We rented bikes for the week it was an easy ride to most places.

Perfect Everything!

We were a family of six persons - Grandma, Grandpa, our daughter, her husband, and their two kids ages 9 and 11. We all loved having separate bedrooms and bathrooms, outdoor sitting and dining areas, and the hot tub. Sunsets and sunrises were amazing. The view from the living room and kitchen were mesmerizing. Kitchen was stocked well with cooking gear. The gas BBQ was wonderful. Saw a bald eagle and a woodpecker by the house. The best family vacation we have ever had.

Fabulous Home on Orcas Island

We had a terrific stay at Salish Sea. The house is spacious and nicely equipped. We were particularly impressed with the kitchen, as we're not used to good gadgets, knives, small electrics, etc. when we've rented vacation houses in the past. The house's best feature is its proximity and views to the water. We enjoyed all of our evenings eating on the deck, watching bees dart in and out of the lavender, and marveling at the beauty of the water.

We had a wonderful stay in this Waterfront home. Beautiful views and property. We took advantage of the hot tub and were so impressed with the beautiful landscaping around the house. The interior craftsmanship is impressive. We had one issue with a need for more bedding for the fold out couch which was taken care of quickly by the property management. This is a fabulous spot to visit with friends and family or just sit by ones-self and contemplate the beautiful world in front and around you.

Incredible place to stay

We had really high hopes for this house and our family vacation on Orcas. From the minute we drove in on the first day and saw the view from the house, we said "Wow, this is going to be incredible!" The house is very thoughtfully appointed with high quality choices throughout. It also feels like a home without being cluttered. It's location was also perfect - close enough to activities to be a short drive, and far enough away to feel remote and in nature. If we return to Orcas, we will book this house.

A top 10 Vacation!

This was the best vacation rental experinece our family has ever had and we have had many, including our own wonderful vacation home on a fine Minnesota lake. We appreciated the many details of design and landscape that made this place exceptional. We have a chef in our family and he enjoyed the kitchen, as we enjoyed his cooking! The deck was the icing on the cake. My fmily vacation home is just 3 doors down so it felt like coming home only better! The weather was cool but cooperative- out of the southern prevailing winds.THANKS FOR SHARING THIS HOME!

Multi-Generation Travel

We traveled to Orcas Island for a week in June with our two kids, ages 9 and 13, plus both sets of grandparents. This property was perfect for us!

Pros:
space for 4 bedrooms with their own bathrooms for privacy and good sleep
The deck has the most gorgeous view
Sap not an issue as we read in previous reviews, fell tree actually opens view
Master site a true sanctuary
Hot tub a relaxing extra
Quiet road with easy access to east sound and activities on both sides of the island

Cons:
Kitchens such a beautiful space and such fun to cook in! However, it needs an overhaul in terms of how space is used and what cooking utensils are available and in good form.
4th bedroom with foldout tight for two people unless they're kids
