Located past Deer Harbor, on the west side of the island facing Sidney, British Columbia in the distance, you'll find this wonderful vacation rental home. Imagine sun sparkling on the waters just outside the windows, amazing sunsets, views of neighboring islands, both near and far, the activity of boats and ships heading north and south, the call of seabirds, sightings of seals or possibly even a passing Orca…that’s the atmosphere you’ll enjoy when you stay at Sunset Cove. This home has a true Island feel – it’s not pretentious, just tasteful, comfortable, and cozy. The kitchen and bathrooms have been attractively upgraded, and there’s a large deck where you can dine and unwind listening to the soothing sounds of the waves.
On the main level, there's a well-stocked kitchen with Viking cooktop, Sub-Zero fridge, and an oven with convection cooking.

Also on this main level are the master bedroom with a lovely king bed and a second bedroom with a full bed and single trundle below. The two main level bedrooms share a large bathroom with dual vanities. Down a flight of stairs off the living room is a second bathroom and another sleeping area with a double-sized fold out futon sofa and the laundry room, which has an extra fold-up twin rollaway bed. In this lower area there’s also a large flat screen TV, PlayStation/DVD, and the laundry room. With a private entrance, this lower area can become a second master suite or provide a private retreat for a teenager.

This home also has an electric car charger for your use. The home is also equipped with a back up generator in addition to high speed fiber optic internet.

The beautiful pocket beach just below the home is accessed with a steep ladder-type stairway built into the bank. As there is a significant drop from the top of the bank to the beach below; we strongly recommend that children are supervised when outside.

Please note: residential internet speeds, bandwidth and reliability in the San Juan Islands currently lag behind the mainland. Guests who wish to use videoconferencing, streaming services, or multiple simultaneous internet connections should be aware that performance may not meet the levels they are accustomed to. Guests may need to alter their online work and entertainment plans due to service fluctuations or outages.

Another fantastic stay at Sunset Cove!

"We have been coming here since 2020, and the house just keeps getting better and better. New wood floors? Check. New Bosch dishwasher (super quiet!)? Check. Same super comfortable bedding, sofa, chairs? Check. Same FULLY equipped kitchen with commercial-quality appliances? Yep. Dog-friendly? Absolutely! It is an absolute joy to stay here. The Puget Sound/Salish Sea view, the forest surroundings, and the utter quiet are wonderful. Glimpses of eagles, sea lions, deer, and sea birds occur with regularity. Great hiking opportunities on Turtle Mountain. Or just enjoy casual walking on the private road! Prepare to downshift and enjoy the relative slow life on Orcas Island. 23 minutes away from downtown Eastsound. Great dining options including the New Leaf Cafe, Mijitas Restaurant, and of course the Madrona Bar & Grill.

Wonderful house, incredible views

The house was very comfortable with well stocked kitchen. No broken down vacation home furniture here! We loved our stay here with the amazing views from the main living areas. Access to the water is not very realistic unless you are much younger and reckless than we are. The views here are some of the best in the San Juans. We also enjoyed walking our dogs through the quiet neighborhood. Highly recommend the house which is the best dog-friendly house we have stayed in in the San Juans.

Beautiful property

Great view, right on the beach. The house was big, and my kids had their own space to play. Baths were luxurious, beds were fantastic. Grill amazing, and the kitchen had everything we could possibly want/need. The only problem we had was we couldn't light up the lamp in the living room next to the dining room, so it was mostly dark at night.

Perfect for our family. So clean!

We were so pleasantly surprised that they take and wash their sheets and towels in a commercial launderer. I am sensitive to smells and appreciate sheets that are clean, without a strong scent. The towels were clean, thick and luxurious! The house was just perfect for us. Super comfy, great chefs cook top. Beds were so comfortable. (Couch pull out not comfortable.) So big kids ended up sleeping on the couches instead. NBD for our family. Everything was dialed in and its obvious that this rental company knows how to host traveling people well. Thank you owners, for sharing this house with us. Its beautiful and we made some beautiful memories here.

Great private home!

This home has a beautiful view and lovely deck and full windows all along the view side of the house. The neighborhood is very quiet and peaceful. The house is well stocked with all the basic amenities and the beds are very comfortable. We cooked our breakfasts and dinners and had take out lunches in town. We played games every evening while watching the amazing sunsets.

Very nice getaway

Beautiful peacefull location, easily nicer than even the pictures show. Very high quality place very thoughtfully equipped. Plenty of room for all, seating inside and out on the excellent deck. Only small caveat is that the 3rd bed downstairs is a typical sofabed comfort wise.

Amazing Views, Relaxing weekend

My friends and I had a wonderfully relaxing weekend on Orcas Island. After full days of exploring the Island's beauty, we barbecued and ate on the deck while watching the sunset. We ventured onto the beach to explore tide pools and hiked turtleback mountain.

best spot on Orcas

The house exceeded all our expectations. We were astonished and delighted at the view. The directions provided were accurate and the house was very clean and well furnished. We appreciated all of the thoughtful courtesy items provided so we did not have to rush out and get supplies. We had local visitors everyday - river otters, harbor seals, bald eagles, and humming birds. We had a great time and would definitely return.

Beautiful, relaxing spot

Great winter break

We had a fantastic few days at Sunset Cove. The house is very comfortable for five people and well equipped. We carried our kayak down the steep staircase to the private beach and went exploring over to Jones Island, and were followed by seals and saw porpoises. The February weather was fairly cold, with snow here and there and blocking the road to Mt Constitution but we had rain only 1 day out of 5, and at times the sun made it feel quite warm. We recommend the hikes to Ship Rock and Turtle Head for the beautiful views. In the house, the downstairs room was a good den for the kids. It was nice to have Netflix. The beds were comfortable and the bathrooms spacious and clean. The reservations team communicated well and warned us about possible snow which was nice. Overall a great week and welcome change of pace.

Christmas on Orcas

Marginal. We made the best of a bad situation. As storm hit the area the night before. Tree branches were strewn along the road and the property's 4-wheel required driveway. There were no lights to identify the house as we came in at night. The property had a light pole that did not work. I notified the property managers that we had to clear the drive way to get inside. They said, "sorry" and did nothing more.
So, we made the best of our Christmas despite the useless property managers, their incessant warning signs around the house, and the added fees.

Manager's Response

The day before this guest arrived, winds in excess of 60MPH hit the Islands along with severe rain. The guest let us know that there were tree limbs down on arrival. He had dealt with them and did not request any assistance for this or any other problem. He simply wanted us to know the condition on arrival. We provided our apology for the storm damage and any inconvenience this caused. He indicated the house was functioning normally when I spoke with him. The driveway to this home completely passable with 2 wheel drive vehicles. It is possible the severe rain compromised the roadway, but our housekeeping staff that serviced the home after guest departure, used two-wheel drive vehicle with no reported problem. This home is located in a rural area where no street lights exist. The guest did not indicate any issue finding the home which has address numbers at the entry to the driveway. It is possible that the front door light may have been off, which would be our error because we leave them on for arriving guests. There was no further request for services from the guest. Warning signs are about conserving water, or instructions on how to operate appliances or home components. I am sorry the guest found them obtrusive. I would ask potential future guests to take this review in context with the five other perfect reviews for this property and our services. The only fees on this reservation were a 3% credit card charge, departure cleaning, and a purchased damage waiver. VRBO adds their own charges to reservation originated through their website. Book direct and save these charges. General Manager.

Wonderful get-a-way

We enjoyed our short visit. The house had everything we needed. The Island is beautiful. Only one thing stood out in our minds as needing attention. The white rug is lovely but it was raining and muddy outside and we did everything we could to not leave any tracked mud into the house; we always wipe Sophie's feet before she comes in. Still....hmmm. Anyway it was a beautiful location, the view and the Sea Otters - !!! loved it.

Stunning View!

This rental is ideal for those who want an idyllic Island retreat. The expansive ocean views are truly breathtaking, get ready to see an impressive assortment of sea animals and stunning sunsets. The gourmet kitchen is well stocked and a dream to use, there is also a barbecue on the deck if you feel like grilling with a stunning backdrop. The basement is ideal for older kids and they absolutely loved the smart tv and PlayStation. This is an inviting, spacious, perfectly stocked with great attention to detail, nicely maintained rental. Highly recommended! Would book again in a heartbeat.

Amazing views and sunsets

This home had great views of the water and many other islands. The westerly view provided amazing sunset views every night. The location is very private and remote, which we loved. 10-15 minutes to the ferry terminal and about 20 minutes to Eastsound. The beach access was by a steep ladder and was fun climbing down to the rock beach. Otters and sea lions visited every day. We had 5 people and we were very comfortable. Plenty of room. The place felt very new and was clean. Great hiking nearby at Turtleback Mountain. We cant wait to go back and stay at the same location.

2 bed rooms not 3, heater/dish washer not working

overall, it's a good place to stay with nice view, but do found several issues:

we planned for 3 bed rooms, but it turns out only have 2 bed rooms with one sofa bed downstairs. and heater on first floor not working, also dishwasher not working and we got notice when we arrived not when we book this property.

it has wifi but no internet or cable.

the stairs to access the beach is completely not maintained, "you are on you own risk to use it"
